Virtual Reality (VR)

“The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel like you’re actually present in another place with other people. People who try it say it’s different from anything they’ve ever experienced in their lives.” Mark Zuckerberg

What is Virtual Reality:

It is basically a simulated experience of the real world or completely different from the real world designed or generated by the use of computers technology. It allows us to design an environment that can seem real to the player. This environment can be explored in 360 degrees to give an immersive experience combined with the feeling of the player is presence in the environment. It creates an illusion whereby the player thinks that he or she is in another place.

How can VR help us to learn:

VR can enable us to design a perfect simulated experience of a real classroom. Learners can interact with programed students and teachers. This is actually what some game developers tried to make. A full experience of a classroom in which in it the game developers or designers would provide real classroom tasks. Even more amazing is how other games provided the experience of traveling to another country. For example, you can be at a French café ordering coffee or in Moscow asking for directions in Russian. Moreover, if you like stories, VR can make them real. The learner wouldn't have to read, because he or she will watch the story as it unfolds. However, there are also some who used it to encourage learning or experience. Such as, the 360 degrees video or documentaries filmed by National Geographic. In this type of videos, the viewer could experience everything. For example, the feeling of being underwater surrounded by different kinds of fish and exploring the wonders of sea. Indeed, such a technology is limitless and creative.

What are the pros of using VR when learning :

1. Active experience.
2. Increases creativity.
3. Increases learner is interest.
4. Increases concentration.
5. Creates an enjoyable experience.
6. Suitable for learning styles.
7. Creates a safe and controlled area.
8. is an excellent tool for experiential experiences.
9. interactive experience.
10. unlimited.

So, try watching a 360 degrees video and tell us what you think by commenting under this post.

Don't forget learning is fun through technology 😊
