Duolingo

App description:

Duolingo helps learners acquire a second language or even two languages by learning them simultaneously. The application offers over 40 languages. Such as Russian, French, Spanish, Arabic, English, and much more. It is important to know that each language lesson or course focuses on acquiring a language through the main four skills of learning a language. For instance, listening, reading, writing, and speaking. In addition, Duolingo uses the flashcard method, direct translation, and most importantly a skill tree that requires the learner to follow each branch to access the following lesson.

How the application works:

The app uses games and different methods. For example, flashcards, direct translation and lastly a skill tree that helps the learner to follow each branch to access the following lesson. Therefore, you have to finish the branch for basics before you can access the branch for basics 2. As it happens, every lesson would give the learner specific words, sentences, and phrases that if passed are going to help learn the lesson on the next branch. More importantly, you can have a test for the language you aim to learn before you begin learning. This will help you know your level in the language and change you skill tree plan. For example, if you are familiar with the basics of the English language, you might not need to begin with them based on your in the test.
